Your weekly go-to guide to transform your finance function into a strategic powerhouse.

Welcome CFO Techstack Community 👋,

At Showcase three weeks ago, we gave a name to the Xero techstack implementors who had been operating without one — FTS Consultants. And last week, we announced the Stackademy — a training ground for them.

But movements don't just need names and infrastructure. They need to celebrate the people actually doing the work.

Which is why this week, we are excited to announce the inaugural CFO Techstack Awards 🏆

As the movement around modern finance infrastructure continues to grow, we believe that the people redesigning finance operations on Xero + the stack deserve recognition too!

Early nominations are open here. Let us know who you think should be recognised.

Introducing: Inaugural CFO Techstack Awards!

The CFO Techstack community is growing fast.

The default has changed, and businesses are going further on Xero than ever before. The trailblazers, leaders, and top solutions driving that movement are building something the finance world hasn't seen before.

They (you) deserve to be recognised.

That's what awards are for.
Not trophies.
Recognition.

The kind that inspires others to push further, to get more involved, to innovate. The kind that puts a spotlight on individuals, teams, and partners who are saving time, delivering value, and redefining what modern finance operations look like — so the rest of the community can see what's possible.

We're proud to introduce the inaugural CFO Techstack Awards 🎉

The first (of what will be annual) awards celebrating the top individuals, teams, stories and solutions in the CFO Techstack community. Every year new leaders will emerge, new apps will earn their place in the spotlight, and continued excellence will be rewarded.

Entries for 2026 officially open 23rd June, but as of today, you can nominate someone you think deserves recognition.

The Award Categories

Each award has been carefully considered.

Too many awards and they lose their meaning. Too few, and not enough of the community gets the recognition it deserves. Rewarding only the best apps would mean missing what's coming next. Recognising only individuals would mean overlooking the team efforts that have led to standout contributions.

We believe we've struck the right balance. Eight awards; some for individuals, some for teams, some for the solutions shaping the ecosystem. A set we're proud of, and one we think reflects the breadth of what this community is building.

We couldn't be more excited to see who takes them home!

🥇 Finance Leader of the Year

This recognises a finance leader redefining what modern finance operations can look like — driving operational excellence, building intelligent workflows, leveraging automation and AI, and proving that high-performing finance teams don't need ERP to scale.

Who is it for: If you're a finance leader who has built something genuinely impressive on Xero, led a complex finance transition, or built your own AI tools to push your finance function further — this one's for you.

🥇 Finance Team of the Year

Behind every great finance leader is a team. This award celebrates finance teams operating at an elite level — closing month-end faster than most, redesigning workflows, building finance functions that others in the community aspire to replicate.

Who is it for: If your team is doing something others should see, enter this one.

🥇 Implementor / FTS Consultant of the Year

The best finance stacks don't happen by accident. Behind many of them are implementation partners, consultants, and advisors who redesign how finance actually operates. This award recognises the FTS Consultants leading that transformation — through client outcomes, community contribution, and work that elevates the whole ecosystem.

Who is it for: If you're an implementor or advisor building finance stacks on Xero, this is your category.

🥇 Stack Transformation of the Year

This one is about stories. The boldest migration, the smartest redesign, the clearest before-and-after. Whether that's moving off ERP in record time, consolidating multi-entity workflows, or rebuilding month-end from the ground up — this category is about transformation outcomes that others can learn from.

Who is it for: If your business (or one you’ve supported) has been through a meaningful finance transformation, tell us about it.

🥇 App of the Year

The modern finance stack only works because of the ecosystem around it. This award recognises the app delivering exceptional impact across the CFO Techstack community — through product innovation, AI functionality, and genuine customer outcomes.

Who is it for: If your app integrates with Xero and is delivering something exceptional, this one’s for you.

🥇 Emerging App of the Year

One of the most exciting categories. This is for the early-stage founders solving problems in genuinely new ways — the products the rest of the market hasn't caught up to yet. The CFO Techstack community has always believed the future of finance belongs to modular innovation, and this category exists to identify what's coming next.

Who is it for: If you're less than 3 years into building something ambitious and differentiated, we want to hear from you.

🥇 Xero MVP

The power-user award — recognising an individual who gets exceptional value from the Xero platform, pushes it to its limits, and gives back to the ecosystem around it.

No nominations required. Just be an epic power user.

🥇 Mayday MVP

Recognising a finance team or operator who makes exceptional use of Mayday and gives back in equal measure. Whether through beta testing, product feedback, sharing their story, or helping others in the community understand what's possible.

No nominations required. Just be an epic power user. This winner will be hand-selected by the Mayday team.

Take Note, Entries Open Soon

Entries open 23rd June, 2026.

Entries close 31st July, 2026.

Winners announced in August 2026.

The announcement will culminate in a live webinar, with community-wide coverage across CFO Techstack channels.

The next generation of finance infrastructure is already here. Now it's time to celebrate the people building it.

COMMUNITY INSIGHTS

🎤 How I stacked it

Nenad Rebic, Financial Controller at Golden Horse Minerals, shares his tech stack.

Golden Horse Minerals is a gold exploration company with dominant tenure across the Southern Cross Greenstone Belt in Western Australia. Over the past year, a highly promising project has resulted in a substantial increase in workload within the finance department. As a result, applications and platforms that integrate with their accounting software are extremely valuable, particularly when they help streamline processes and save time.

The team is focused on improving efficiency and reducing our reliance on Excel spreadsheets wherever possible. As Financial Controller, Nenad Rebic's role has been expanding rapidly, but at a high level, his core responsibilities include maintaining comprehensive oversight of all accounts, producing timely financial and management reports, developing and managing budgets and related analyses, and overseeing accounts and payroll operations.

Here's what Nenad and his team are using:

  1. ApprovalMax for Approvals: ApprovalMax has been an excellent solution for managing our payables, eliminating the need to chase managers for invoice approvals. It is a significant time-saver. The pricing is on the higher side.
  2. Hubdoc for Document Management: It’s difficult to find drawbacks in a platform that is both effective and free. Our team loves Hubdoc. It is extremely user-friendly and has greatly improved our efficiency by eliminating a substantial amount of manual work.
  3. Fathom for Reporting: While the initial setup can be challenging, Fathom delivers exceptional value once configured and reporting templates are established. The reports are highly professional in appearance. One limitation, however, is that it only produces month-by-month reports and does not support customizable weekly reporting.
  4. Weel for Spend Management: As our newest implementation, Weel has been very well received. Users find it intuitive, and it has significantly reduced the time required to process receipts within the accounts team.
  5. Mayday for Month End: Mayday is an excellent tool for managing intercompany loans at month end. It is highly user-friendly and offers strong value for money.

Take control of your cash flow before it controls your business

    Tues 30th Jun, 11am BST | Webinar

Many businesses appear healthy on paper but still struggle with unpredictable cash flow. Payments arrive later than expected, forecasts feel unreliable, and issues often only become visible when pressure builds. In most cases, this is the result of limited visibility across receivables, customer behaviour, and internal processes.

This webinar will show you how to move beyond guesswork by giving you a clearer, real time view of your receivables and future cash position. You will learn how to spot early signals, improve predictability, and take control of your cash flow with practical, repeatable actions.
